Every year the Iyengar Yoga Association in Poland organizes the East European Iyengar Yoga Convention run by the most experienced teachers in the world. In this way, hundreds of practitioners have the opportunity to participate in unique events that enable them to gain a different perspective, gain new experience and knowledge. Conventions in Poland have already been conducted, among others Abhijata Sridhar Iyengar, Faeq Biria, Birjoo Mehta, Christian Pisano. Each time the participants take part in a unique event, a real celebration for all those who are close to the message of B.K.S. Iyengar.

Raya Uma Datta, for many regulars of the Institute in Pune is the most interesting, energetic and experienced teacher. He began his apprenticeship at RIMYI at the age of ten. In 1998, he took part in a show organized on the occasion of B.K.S. Iyengar’s 80th birthday. From that moment he practiced and learned directly with Guruji. He began teaching by running classes for children. Since 2002, he has been teaching in general classes and leading therapeutic groups. Raya accompanied Iyengar on many trips abroad - in Russia and Australia in 2009, in South Africa in 2011. He independently conducted seminars and conventions in Israel, Canada, Spain, Italy, Germany, Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Belgium. He studied philosophy and he’s passionate about photography. He was part of the team that created the photo calendar for Iyengar's 93rd birthday.
